Let’s be Nostalgic!!
What we understood from the book or how convincing the author is in storytelling… what we liked in it…
Title: JAWS
Author: Peter Benchley
“At midnight, read first five pages and go to sleep.”
The book we had, had this blurb and the words were enough to arouse the tingling feeling that this book was going to be something that would keep us awake reading it overnight – you simply won’t be able to keep it aside till it was finished…
Rightly so, the book did take almost all of the night reading 300 plus pages of pure thrill. We won’t tell you what the first five pages contained in case you want to read the book. Rest assured, the book is wonderful to read and the way it has been written keeps up the interest you gained at the beginning.
It has insights about shark behaviour skilfully described and then we wondered – if the Steven Spielberg movie had done justice to this great work. We would say the movie was about 90% accurate and depicted what was written in the book. But, the book explains many things which couldn’t be captured on screen.
The scene where 2nd World War situation is described – is really chilling. A boat is sunk and the sailors are holding each other, floating in deep sea, till they are rescued. The waters there are infested with sharks… Read it to experience the chill.
What we liked about this book is the author has thoroughly researched the topic – shark, and has meticulously written his research coupled with a thrill of the story.
It’s definitely a worth a read – at least once in a lifetime.
Rest, we would like to hear from those who have read this one as to what do they think of this story by Peter Benchley.
So long till next book’s information…
