He was quite nervous when he entered the hotel and found Ayushi in the lobby discussing further course of excavation with the team from Archaeological department. He heard them discuss for few minutes and told Ayushi that he will be in his room – he wanted to freshen up before dinner. She told him that she will contact him once she has freshened up for the dinner as it was the last dinner they would have together. Then he will be on his way to Mumbai and she will continue staying there till the excavation was over…
He went to his room a bit elated, Ayushi had decided that he was special enough to have a dinner together before he leaves for Mumbai and that meant she also felt he was important to her life. He freshened up and dabbed the best of the perfume he had with him, shaved clean to his satisfaction and decided to wait for Ayushi to get ready for the dinner.
It was only an hour when she called him, but he felt as if almost entire day had passed and was exhausted with anticipation. He was up in a flash and almost ran downstairs to the restaurant of the hotel. He did not take the elevator as it could delay Ayushi.
As soon as he entered the restaurant, he saw Ayushi. She looked fabulous as she wore a red coloured lehenga and choli that was embroidered exclusively – as if she was attending a wedding ceremony and was going there to impress the wannabe husband. Her aura shown through the dress and he looked at her as if he was looking at Princess Kanika who he thought was extremely beautiful… He couldn’t help dreaming her as his wife and felt bad that he wasn’t dressed in such manner – he could have easily bought a kurta and dhoti to match her dress… only if he would have known… she wore ornaments that were rich in Budelkhandi makes and culture – she indeed looked like a Princess – straight out of history.
With his heart beating heavily, he approached her and praised her looks in as many words he could till she blushed looking lovelier… He was so obsessed by her looks that he couldn’t bring himself to put forth the marriage proposal to her. She could sense he was trying to control himself but said nothing just watched his uneasiness.
They had their dinner and ventured out in the lawn of the hotel to digest the food intake, speaking about light topics as to what they would do once the day for his departure dawns. He was supposed to leave by 5pm the next day while she was supposed to stay and help the excavation on the site they had accidently found…
After roaming in the lawn for about half an hour, they decided that they will go back to their respective rooms. They were outside her room when she suddenly smiled and invited him in her room. He entered the room, his heart beating at its fastest…
“There’s something on your mind…” she said looking at him, “You can trust me and let me know what you have been thinking.”
“I…” he gulped a sip of saliva that had formed, “I have been thinking the whole week and mostly today that I should…” he gulped at the saliva again…
She looked wide eyed expectantly toward him half anticipating what he was going to say – you could call that a woman’s instinct.
“Well, I don’t know how to say this – but – I think sooner or later I will have to say this…” he gulped at the saliva again, “You and me – we have been together for the whole week and enough for me to think, observe and feel… You are the correct girl for me to marry and settle down in my life – will you marry me?”
She started to laugh wildly at his proposal and his heart started to sink at the lilting laughter of hers… with all kinds of rejections coming to his mind. But, she kept laughing off her head and after a while settled down in the chair in the room trying to control her fit of laughter. Finally she did control her laughter and looked directly at him…
