Though he slept late, he was up early for he had decided to bring in a bouquet of fresh flowers for Ayushi in the morning when she was ready to greet him… He freshened up whistling a tune and went out in search of a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
It was the ritual of the hotel cafeteria to wake up every guest for the free breakfast that was served and they had been trying every guest. They had no idea that Akash had ventured out of the hotel to get the bouquet of flowers. Finally, they called him on his mobile and he said he was on his way back to the hotel from the market place which was nearby…
He was back just in time and entered the cafeteria expecting Ayushi to greet him with her lovely smile – but, she was not there. Perhaps, she must have had her breakfast and may have gone back to her room to get ready to meet him before he left for Mumbai. He had almost finished his breakfast when a police inspector approached him…
“Are you Akash?”
‘Yes. I am.”
“You will have to come with me – something important…” he said in an urgent tone and Akash left his breakfast half way and accompanied him. He thought this was regarding the find they had made yesterday – Kanika’s palace.
The inspector led the way and instead of walking into the lobby of the hotel entered the elevator and pushed the button to room where Ayushi was staying. He said nothing but his gaze on Akash made him feel uncomfortable…
He looked at the floor and felt uncomfortable – a lot of police activity was on around the room where Ayushi was put up… They walked on the aisle leading to her room, “Do you know Ayushi?” he asked him.
“Yes… We are going to get married once she finishes her project here.”
“I am sorry – that won’t be possible…” he said his gaze still firm on Akash, “The hotel staff found her dead in her bed in the morning…”
The floor beneath Akash seemed to dip as his feet cramped with the news.
“How can this be possible? We decided to marry last evening and she was quite well at the time – how can she die leaving me like this?” Akash couldn’t help thinking this loud enough for the inspector to raise his eyebrow.
“Anyways – let’s see what the reason for her death is – we have called her parents here – they will reach by tomorrow. Till then, you are requested to stay back and help us with the investigation and not to forget the bellboy at the hotel has seen you as the last person to see her alive – so you are a suspect as well…”
Akash then somehow managed to control all his emotions, “Can I see her?”
“Yes – and also if you can explain what happened last night…”
He slowly stepped towards Ayushi’s room and peeked inside he could see that she was still on her bed. He moved toward the bed and saw her and couldn’t believe his eyes – her expressions were something he would never forget – they were filled with pleasure and astonishment at the same time – her mouth was wide agape with that astonished look and her eyes showed immense pleasure and a sex hungry want – though dead…
He looked at her and then realised that she was dead and broke down and took some time before he was ready to speak to the police. He explained how they had been travelling together on the entire trip and how they found a place of historic importance yesterday. Then how he felt that she was the right girl for him and how she had accepted her proposal. How they had spoken to her parents and how happy they were at their decision…
The police had finished taking the photographs of the dead body and were now ready to shift the body to the government hospital for post-mortem. There were no scars found on the body which meant that there was no struggle during the death, no weapon had been used – so they wanted to know if she had been inflicted with some kind of a poison… Even her body was not blue as effect of the poison…
He had nothing to do but wait for the procedures and try and understand how she could have died – after all, she was healthy…
The question I asked myself here – Should I stop and let someone else continue with the story…
