Then I thought – let me add some more mystery and continue with the story…

He had a troublesome stay that day because not only Ayushi was dead, police were eyeing him as a prime suspect of her death. He couldn’t understand as to how she died of so sudden, especially after they had vigorous love making. She seemed quite normal and healthy at the time…

Once the post mortem was done, police came back to him asking if he had sexual intercourse with her – had he done that without her consent… if he had forced himself upon her and lot more regarding their relationship.

He couldn’t have his food properly and was absolutely tense, for he knew he also would have to face her lamenting parents the next day as and when they arrived. He had spoken to them when Ayushi was alive and taken their blessings for the decision of marriage with her… He slept a troubled night at the hotel – police hadn’t arrested him for they didn’t have any evidence of his hand in her death… but, they could frame evidence against him and take his custody…

Even the police were baffled – there were no wounds on her body, the post-mortem showed no intake of poison… They had seen the CCTV footage numerous times to see if he had ventured out again and entered her room – but the footage only showed that she had come out of her room, kissed him goodnight and waived him bye… this meant that she was alive when he bid bye to her…

Further, his room was on a different floor away from her room and there was no chance that he could have sneaked into her room through the balcony and it was too high with nothing to support anyone who climbed into her balcony and the CCTV footage of outside didn’t show any movement that side – also, the door to her balcony was securely locked from inside which meant that nobody had entered from the balcony – then how did she die?

The post-mortem said that the death was due to cardiac arrest and natural – they hadn’t seen any nitty-gritty in detail which was going to be done the next day. Only, the next day will throw some light on the matter…

The next day finally dawned and they kept waiting for the detailed post-mortem and her parents to arrive. Her parents did arrive by afternoon and he had tough time consoling her mother who broke down but her father was composed and decided to have a look at her body first and take its custody for the last rites. The body was handed over to him and they attended the last rites of Ayushi…

It was then that her father told him and the police, “Son, I am sorry, I should have told you this yesterday when we spoke about your marriage. She was not in the best of her health… sometimes, she used to faint and we had taken her for medical examination – the reports came after she left for the tour. She had a hole in her heart and we planned to get the problem fixed as soon as she returns – in the meantime, she met you and you both decided to marry each other – looking at your happy faces I couldn’t say all this to you – I thought I would tell this to you both when she returns – but, alas! She is no more with us now. May her soul attain salvation.” saying thus, he broke down and Akash consoled and comforted him…

“Tough we couldn’t marry officially, we did marry our feelings, don’t feel you have lost her – you always have me by your side when you will need me…” Akash was confused and sad – his marriage was broken even before he was married… Taking leave of police, he left for Mumbai with her parents – dropped them off at Nashik and proceeded to his flat in Mumbai.

He was at a loss for few days when he decided that he was alive and life has to go on – so he decided to concentrate on his work and try to forget his love for Ayushi. He started looking forward to starting his work for Mrs Lavanya and started designing the offices of her husband and soon the pain of loss of Ayushi calmed down…
