By now they were friendly and had started calling each other by their first names. He was happy because she had really brought him out of his melancholy by her positive words and she had been happy introducing her to her kitty party friends who had promised him their bungalows for his design and work. They all had appreciated the way he had remade her bungalow…
Akash was happy that he had many rich clients who now wanted to do business with him and they had the money to spend on any exquisite design he would design to make their bungalows look better. He also sensed some jealousy in them that he really had made Lavanya’s bungalow look exotic and posh – they all wanted their bungalows to look better than her bungalow.
He started early that day and reached Lonavala to check if he could rent a decent place till Lavanya’s bungalow there was re-decorated and changes he had designed were implemented. He found a place which was near to the bungalow and the rent also was decent – he finalised that place…
Lavanya reached there in afternoon with her husband and they invited him to check the place out and wanted to know how much time he would take to get it remade…
“Looking at the design, it will take me approximately 2 and half months to get the place done. That is if payments for the labour and the material required are time – you can pay me my fees after the work is finished – I am sure you will love staying here once done and may want to shift your base here…” Akash told them and they dreamed of putting up cosily there…
Next day, he started his work and the labour required started to stay in the bungalow giving him advantage of more work hours per day. He thought that he had promised Lavanya to finish the work in 2 and half months – and now realised that since his labour would stay at the bungalow – he could finish the work in less than 2 months leaving him time to work on the promises made by Lavanya’s kitty party friends.
He started furiously working on this project and as vote of thanks to Lavanya, he put more effort in designing exotic interiors to make her happy.
The interiors started taking shape and Lavanya started visiting the site more often – it was hardly 2-3 hours journey for her. He also was now his charming self and Lavanya started liking his company to the boring bitching of her kitty party friends. This also enabled her to tell him of what dreams she had woven for this bungalow and what kind of peace was she looking for in the place…
He then had a brain wave – to thank Lavanya and her husband he decided to decorate their bedroom in royal style. He changed the design he had and started working on a new design. He also started hunting for labour who would get the carvings (he had in his mind) done.
He had pictures of Kanka’s bed in his mobile – he knew he couldn’t replicate the bed but he definitely could copy and try and replicate the bed. He knew that the design was exotic and fabulous – he worked and reworked on the design with the labour team he had found in Pune and started to work toward the dream design…
Lavanya visited in the meantime with a cheque to cover the expenses and was not allowed to open the door to the bedroom to check what the progress was – he told her that it was a surprise… a surprise that she could unveil when the site was complete and handed over to her…
This got Lavanya thinking to what he was up to … what kind of interiors was he planning and keeping secret from her… She decided to keep patience and wait for him to reveal the design – she thought that he would not be able to contain the secret for long. She was wrong, Akash really wanted to surprise her and her husband with his design and wanted to capture the moment on his phone as a memory and each time she visited, he made sure that she couldn’t peek in to the bedroom to check what was being done there…
Finally – the moment arrived when he was ready to hand over the keys of the bungalow to Lavanya and her husband…
