He fondly put his arms around her and kissed her gently, “Make me proud by proving that you are not a liar or are imagining things…” he looked at her in love “Okay – Sweetheart… You ready for the test?” she nodded, “Then get ready, we both will go and meet Dr. Pallavi.”
“Okay – give me about 15-20 minutes and I’ll be ready – till then watch your favourite program on TV.” She said and started to climb up the stairs to her room.
He then texted Tanvi to check if they were ready and she texted him back that they were. He texted Tanvi about the interaction he had with Anjali and how he had managed to convince her. He did this so that they would be aware of the reason why Anjali had agreed to meet Pallavi.
He heard soft footsteps as she climbed down the stairs and looked in that direction. She wore a bright white one piece elegant gown that swayed to her movement. He felt as if he was watching an angel descend from heaven, ready to shower him with lots of love filled moments. He couldn’t stop himself and extended his arms in her direction and she rushed into them like a needle attracted to a powerful magnet.
They kissed even as they stood at the door, ready to leave toward Tanvi’s home. His heart was elated at the thought that she will be cured once she meets Dr. Pallavi and her heart thumped hard with tension – this was going to be The Toughest Test of her life which could make or break the relation with Chaits. Their drive to Tanvi’s home was a silent one…
They sat in Tanvi’s room chatting over light topics and teasing each other to make Anjali feel comfortable. Pallavi then looked at Tanvi hinting that she was now ready to discuss and check Anjali for her problem. She took the hint and Chaits hugged his All the Best before they left them alone.
They had a long wait and he hoped that Anajli’s ailment was within Pallavi’s control. Pallavi in the meantime, asked, probed her almost an hour. She then asked everyone to assemble in the room. When they entered the room, they were astonished to find both Anjali and Pallavi laughing and behaving as if they were long lost sisters.
“She is a wonderful girl.” Pallavi said beaming at them, “I know she is going to make it one day – Chaits! I want to congratulate you. You have won the hand of an exceptional girl.”
Chaits looked at Anjali who sat there, looking wide eyed at him, smiling and blushing. She seemed absolutely delighted with her meeting with Pallavi.
“She is a brave girl as well…” Pallavi added patting her back, “and Chaits, do you know that she is willing to go through any test – any medication to prove herself and be with you forever as your wife – am I right, Anjali?” and she nodded vigorously and hugged Pallavi in joy.
Pallavi picked up her pad and scribbled out a prescription for the medicine shop. On another she wrote out the dosage schedule for Anjali and explained that she has to take the correct dosage at correct times. The prescription was for 15 days before she had the next round of ‘test’ with Pallavi.
“I’m ready for any and every test that will prove me correct and help me in my future life with him.” Anjali said in a decisive tone pointing at Chaits. Everyone in the room felt a surge of happiness and decided on a tea party at one of the popular joints.
Once done. Chaits dropped Anjali her home, picking up medicines prescribed by Pallavi on the way… They reached her home. Her parents had not yet returned.
She hugged him tight and looked at him with expectant eyes, “Darling, are you happy? You can see that I’m going to consume those medicines. I really don’t need them. I’m going to consume them so that you can face the world and say that your wife is not off her chump…”
He fondly put his arms around her and patted her, “I am proud of you. I am stunned by your brave decision to consume those pills so that I can face the world. I can’t find words to express my gratitude…”
She put a soft finger on his lips to silence him and followed it with a kiss. He kissed her back in equal affection. Soon he realized that her kiss had a strong physical pull of her sensuous feelings and he had tough time pulling himself away from her. He left her with an elated breath and proceeded to pick Guru and Tanvi on his way back to Mumbai.
“She really loves you”, Pallavi had said smiling at him, “I hope the dosage I have prescribed works on her. We will know that in about 15 days as to how effective the dosage has been and then we can finalize her dosage to bring her out of her state of mind along with consultation. She might have to be under medication for about year or so – but, I feel she is going to be alright in the long run.”
They had heaved a sigh of relief hearing Pallavi’s conviction and knew that Chaits now didn’t have to call off his wedding – and they drove back chatting and jesting – just like old times…
Once back to the grind, Chaits followed Pallavi’s instructions. He took time out every hour to call Anjali to let her know that he was concerned about her consuming those medicines and to make sure that she was consuming them on time… She was happy that he kept calling her every now and then showing his concern.
He kept praying that the medicines would work. She kept telling Sunny about how she felt on the top of the world because Chaits loved her so and was concerned about her…
