Rajasaab’s curiosity had almost reached its peak now and the feeling that Sajjan had thought of something so big that he wouldn’t be able to handle it all by himself and wanted political help – something which was huge. It definitely didn’t seem like any social work. His glance fell on Rana who now looked extremely agitated and was speaking excitedly on his mobile phone.
“Mr. Sajjan. I have a reason to believe that you indeed have a wonderful project up your sleeve and I’m all ears to you, however, please give me few minutes. It seems my men have something urgent on their mind. I’ll cater to them first so that we can have an uninterrupted discussion. Why don’t you take a look at this farmhouse till then?”
“Great! No issues. Take your time because I know – we’ll soon be working on this project together.”
Rajasaab beckoned one of the fabulous housekeeping girls and asked her to show Sajjan around the farmhouse. They started walking over to the farthest end of the lawn where Rana and Devadatta had been standing. They crossed each other and Sajjan noticed that Rana had an angry look full of hate for him. He continued walking toward the end of the lawn. He was counting measured steps as they walked.
Rajasaab raised an eyebrow at Rana to understand his anger and agitation.
“Rajasaab.” he said in a dangerous tone, “Please give me permission to kill him.” he pointed at Sajjan, “I’ll ensure he doesn’t cross that bridge.”
“What happened?”
“As per your order, I sent few men to create trouble where Amar lives amongst the people of his caste. Few minutes ago, I received the information that three of them have been brutally murdered. I don’t know anyone at Dheemapur who could have such strength or guts to attack and kill my men. I think he did it.”
“When did this happen?”
“I got a call from Birju, one of my men about couple of minutes ago. They had been successful in one of their plans and had almost succeeded in carrying out the other. They were running away from the point of turbulence to the spot where they were supposed to meet. When Birju reached the spot, he was alone. He searched for others and found that they had been murdered. Their bodies were found in the field adjacent to the ghost land.”
Rajasaab beckoned him to come closer. When he was close enough, he slapped him hard.
“Idiot, Sajjan has been here for almost 45 minutes. How can he have done that? – Now be alert – be wary and lie low for few weeks. Ask your men to do the same or disappear for few weeks. We need to find out who did this. Do not disturb us now – scram!”
Devadatta and Rana left confused at Rajasaab’s reaction and crossed Sajjan again who completely ignored them.
“I’m extremely sorry for this interruption. Now we won’t be disturbed. Tell me about this project of yours. What help do you need from me – and most important – why me?”
Sajjan smiled at him, “I want you to hear me out – completely – No prejudice – Non-judgemental – I’ll answer all your questions.” Rajasaab nodded his agreement. “When I was roaming around our country, I stumbled upon few locations and my mind started working on this project. I know that in few years’ time I’ll be old and want to settle down peacefully and in comfort. This could be in maybe about 10 years from now. It’s high time – I got to start building up for my future.”
Rajasaab smiled, “My guess about you was correct. You are no saint and the worldly pleasures do matter to you.”
“You are right, Rajasaab.” Sajjan smiled and continued, “I have lived this life of a saint in a hope that I would meet a mentor and an investor like you. Now that I’ve met you, I’d like to start my journey toward a peaceful, rich old man’s life.”
“Go on. I’m all ears. I don’t know why I want to believe in your project” Rajasaab prodded.
“I stumbled upon this project, made plans, and run it over and over till a fool proof plan developed. Then I realized, I wasn’t capable enough to run this project on my own. I needed a good investor and a strong political support. I invested a lot of time in studying possible investors and finally decided – Only you could help in this project and I know that you definitely will.”
“How did you come to this conclusion?” Rajasaab was amused at Sajjan’s thought that he would receive some help in charity.
“Well… Many facts led me to this decision.” Sajjan explained, “I studied you as a politician, a businessman and other interests of yours in deep.”
‘What does this guy exactly know about me?’ Rajasaab thought, an alarm rising in his mind.
