He was awaiting the bus to Bhama when a stranger approached him.

“You are Mr. Sajjan, right?” Sajjan nodded in affirmative, “Got a message for you. Rana wants to meet you. He said he has a package for you from Rajasaab. It’s dangerous for him to move out openly. He will meet you at the shed in the ghostland. He said he’ll be leaving the town any moment…” he then pointed at a bus that was about to leave, “We all have been instructed to leave the town urgently and disappear for about a couple of months.” He boarded that bus without any further word.

Sajjan realized that the package this guy mentioned must be the advance of ten million by Rajasaab for the project they had discussed. Instead of waiting for the bust to Bhama, he boarded the first available bus going to Rajapuri. He looked around to check that nobody was around to see that he entered the ghostland and quietly slipped into the bushes, shrubs and wild trees that yielded the eeriness to the ghost land.

He was alert not knowing what or who to expect. He knew if it was Rajasaab or Devadatta, there was no danger. But Rana, he was a goon minded person who could act on an impulse without considering the consequence of his action. He was unpredictable. He reached the shed without any incidence. He had seen the shed and it’s layout from the hill, he now realized that it was huge about 20ft high and measured almost half acre of land. It seemed to be hidden because it was structured in a trench that wide. He found the door leading to it closed. He pushed the door which opened creaking and peeped inside.

“Oh! It’s you.” Rana said putting a vicious looking dagger back into its holder that hung around his waist, “The times are bad as of today and I have to be careful.” he laughed dangerously, “Rajasaab told me that you are joining us in our business and I was wondering why a saint like you wanted to join us.”

“I’m not a saint” Sajjan said, “It’s different that my reputation says so.”

“Good. Rajasaab asked me to deliver a package to you.”

“I know – where’s it?”

“It’s at a safe location right now. I want you to come here at midnight and collect it. Be sure that nobody sees you.”

“What if I can’t make it at midnight?”

“You got to manage… I’m leaving by the 3am train to an unknown destination. You know that few of my men have been killed and we don’t know who did it. I got to lie low till we know who did it. By any chance, would you know who did it?” Sajjan shook his head. “I already have instructed my men to leave by first available transport and disappear for about a couple of months so that Rajasaab can investigate who is behind the killing. If you want the package, you got be here by midnight.”

“Okay. I’ll manage.”

“Here this envelope is for you – contains first class ticket on the 5pm passenger train from Bhama to Sambhalmati… By the way, are you sure that Gadhchiroli is going to be that profitable? I’ve been there once and have found nothing interesting for business. And the naxalites there are quite dangerous.”

“Don’t worry.” Sajjan put on a strange smile, “There’s enough profit for everyone. Once the project starts, you would be able to hire people of your calibre and become a Super Rana…” Sajjan saw a gleam of greed in Rana’s eyes and turned, “I’ll see you at midnight then.”

“A couple of questions for you before you leave this place…” there was a change in his tone that put Sajjan on alert. He turned around and looked at Rana. “Now that we are working together, I hope you can answer few personal questions”, Rana continued without waiting for Sajjan’s response, “I heard you brought an adivasi girl along with you to Dheemapur. By any chance, is her name Leela?”

Sajjan feigned an astonished look, “How do you know that?”

“Never mind how”, Rana said, his eyes full of lust “This is your chance to prove that you are on our side. You deliver her to me in exchange of the package of Rajasaab. Fair deal – I got an old score to settle with that adivasi girl.” he looked at Sajjan’s thoughtful expression, “Unless – she has started meaning much more to you. I heard she goes around identifying herself as your wife.”

“She doesn’t mean anything to me.” Sajjan said, his voice plain without any emotion, “My work, My Word and My Mission means everything to me.” he added a smile to his plain voice, “I can sacrifice thousand such Leelas for the mission. Once I’ve finished with my mission, I will have thousand such Leelas begging to be with me…”

Rana started laughing viciously, “And I promise – I won’t kill her. She will keep me company till I am on the run and when I return to Dheemapur, she will be placed at Rajasaab’s farmhouse. You would be able to enjoy her services whenever you visit the farmhouse.”

“Okay. We meet at midnight then.”
