He went out to get the bags from the car.

“Why did you get your laptop here?” asked Priti puzzled

“I did not know where we were going so I thought lemme get this juke box to play music – I got a fantastic collection of music” Chaits handed her bag to her.

They disappeared in their respective bedrooms to freshen up for the party that was about to start at Jungle Homes.

In twenty minutes Chaits had freshened up and polished his shoes to a shine with the spare cloth he always carried to shine his shoes. He stepped out of the bedroom feeling fresh.

“It seems the party is about to start” Chaits shouted through Priti’s bedroom door, “how long will you take to get ready?”

“I’ll take at least 15-20 minutes more Chaits” shouted Priti – the table in front of her was all messed up with her make up kit.

Chaits looked at his watch and smiled, ‘Girls! They always say 15-20 minutes and take at least half an hour to get ready’ he thought to himself, ‘Let’s go out and check the party out and then return in half hour to escort Priti and he walked out to the serene forest atmosphere with music being played softly to retain the sanctity of nature.

He walked in the venue he saw about 50-60 people who had gathered for the party. They all were fabulously dressed ‘God! These people seem to be filthy rich – look at all the designer wear. Thank God! I decided to wear this blazer and formal shoes for this occasion’ thus thought Chaits.

He walked around the dance floor to the food corner to take a look at the menu that was being served, he could feel ladies looking at him, Impressed with his stature, his build and his style. He smiled at himself ‘Well, at least Priti won’t be shy being escorted by me…’

Priti gave a final look to appreciate self in the mirror and walked out of her bedroom. She called Chaits but there was no answer. ‘He must be taking a bath’ she thought and lifted the receiver of the intercom…

She called in the house-keeping guys who came in with bundle of wood chips and sticks. It was getting colder.

“Could you please get the fire place running in all the rooms” she instructed and soon the warmth of fire spread across the living room and her bedroom.

“Chaits, are you ready?” she shouted from the door. Not getting any response she knocked twice on the door and opened it. She peeped in to see an empty room and waived the housekeeping guy to light the fire up in Chaits’ room.

She sat on the chair till the guy finished lighting up the fireplaces.

She looked around blankly to see that Chaits’ room was okay. She looked around… a pack of folded sheets grabbed her attention.

‘Curiosity’ that’s one thing females can’t live without.

She reached out and slowly unfolded them in two minds. It could be a personal content of Chaits so it deserved Confidentiality – but – her curiosity was too much and she unfolded those sheets and began going through the content… it read…

‘This is first time – I got attracted to someone who’s not – Alisha” Priti considered & pondered for a moment as to who could that lucky one be… her curiosity was at her best and was immensely tempted to read further… however… she knew that she was reading something that was personal for Chaits. And he could be there any moment…

She folded those papers against her wish and kept them back as they were – She walked out of Chaits’ bedroom waiting patiently for him to turn up…

She put on the TV and watched but her mind was still occupied by the only line she had read in the papers that Chaits had left on in his bed. She was desperately curious to know what Chaits had written further…

She heard someone approaching the main door and stood facing the door. As the door opened she saw Chaits smiling at her and then as he looked at her his jaw dropped – he was completely bowled out by her beauty.

“Chaits” she called him searchingly, “Chaits! What were you doing outside? I thought you were in the bathroom.”

She looked at Chaits dressed up in a formal black trouser over which he wore a shiny black T-shirt which was tight. That showed his muscles to an advantage. He had a grey blazer on him that contrasted the black shiny clothes and to top it up he wore formal black shoes that shone. He looked a handsome man in that attire.

“Wow! Chaits! This looks good on you – feel like romancing someone?” Priti teased him.

“No! I thought that wearing these type of clothes would be good especially if I’m supposed to escort a beautiful lady like you” he said and blushed.

“Well…” Priti wondered, “I’d have been proud even if you were escorting me in the normal attire you put on when you’re in college.”

Chaits swore to himself ‘I’m sure – I saw a Twinkle in her eyes – God! Please tell me that she’s in love with me’ he then looked at Priti again, “Shall we go? I think the party’s begun long back…” and stretched out his arm.

“Wrong one!” Priti laughed. She walked to his other side and locked her arm in his “This is correct – now – please escort me”

They approached the floor as the DJ played a soft and slow music.

Chaits braced himself and muttered… ‘You have been practicing to dance for such a day – Please do not falter’

He saw that couples were in each other’s arms and swaying to the soft music to a ball-dance.

He felt his heart beats rise… Priti put her arms around him for the dance. He shivered as he put his arms around her waist and felt the touch of soft hair on her back. She smelt of a lovely perfume she had dabbed. Her smile put all the bright lights around to shame. He felt uncomfortable as sweat started forming a thin film on his temples and forehead.

‘God! Why am I sweating like a pig’ he wondered. Unknowingly, his grip around Priti tightened… he felt better as her body touched his body and felt heartbeats going much faster.

He experienced the soft and warm touch of Priti’s body – he wanted to get more of it and slowly he held her tighter and closer. They were almost in a tight embrace now and moving and swaying to the music was increasingly difficult. Priti’s leg entangled in Chaits’ and she tripped. Chaits was quick to grab her before she fell.

“Sorry” Chaits released her. ‘God!’ he thought, ‘I’m behaving exactly like Lucky and that’s not right… searchingly he asked “Pinky? Are you ok?” as feeling of guilt crept over…

“I’m OK” Priti smiled as he escorted her to a seat in the food corner. She burst out laughing uncontrollable as they sat down and he looked curiously at her…

The tinkle in her laughter was killing him with curiosity, “Now what?” he asked a bit impatiently and Priti still laughing pointed to the speaker that was blaring… ‘Pappu can’t dance sala’

Chaits sank in the chair next to her, smiling to keep his horror to himself… He had failed miserably at the dance.

“Sorry Chaits” said Priti amid her laughter trying to control herself, “But I do agree with our group – You can’t dance” Chaits felt relieved with her laughter – she did not feel that he had behaved like Lucky. “No point in sitting here… let’s go back to our hut” said Priti and obedient Chaits got up wanting to go away from the dance floor…

He looked at Priti and heaved a sigh of relief – she did not seem unhappy about leaving the dance floor. He secretly felt happy – he no longer wished to see that dance floor.

“Is this place always crowded?” Charts wondered aloud, “but then L6 is vacant”

“Not always” said Priti, “you can see this crowd only on New Year’s Eve and if you come on an odd day – especially during exams in schools – you may be the only one here. During those times there are only 2 or 3 security people one cook and one house-keeping guy here… As far as L6 is concerned, that also belongs to us.” explained Priti.

Soon they were relaxing in the living room. “Oh! This is so relaxing” said Priti as she played with her dress frill – she looked a bit impatient, “Chaits! Sorry to bother you – but could you please get food to eat from the food corner? Normally – they do serve in these rooms except when they’re large number of people like today.”

“Ok. What do you want?”

Priti lifted the receiver of the intercom and spoke to the food corner and listed out a menu, “my friend would be there – so please hand over the parcel to him.”

“Pinky… do you realize… you just ordered food enough for ten people…”

“It’s ok… It would be enough for us till morning – I don’t want to go out of L7 now that I’m so relaxed”

“AL righto!” said Chaits and started walking toward food corner to get the parcel.

As soon as Chaits left – Priti got up in a flash – she was no longer relaxed. She had ordered enough food to keep Chaits waiting at food corner for the parcel. She was sure be would take about 30-40 minutes to return.

She closed and bolted the main door.

Her curiosity was now at its peak. She paused for a moment and made her mind up… She opened the door to Chaits’ bedroom and blissfully saw those unread sheets of paper still lying there – on his bed. She lifted those papers – again in two minds – but this time she had made up her mind… she unfolded the sheets and started reading…

‘This is the first time that I got attracted to someone who’s not – Alisha. In fact – she’s the one who showed me the difference between Love and Infatuation.

I now understand that all these years I’ve been infatuated by Alisha. I was bowled out by her looks, her style, her glamour and her courage.

She had been my image of my perfect girlfriend. However, I do not know her as a person.

I love the way she smiles. I love the way she dresses. I love her long and well groomed shiny hair that glow with a tint of burgundy in the shine.

She definitely has a fascinating glamorous style that she carries fabulously.’

Priti found her blood boiling with envy – Chaits had written absolutely romantically about her…

‘I love the way she fearlessly gets into those shady places with her hidden camera when she carries out her sting operations.

She’s just fabulous and I’ve always dreamed about her as my girlfriend.’

Priti tweaked her nose in disgust and looked at her image in the mirror & started reading further…

‘These feelings were all good for a long time. I’ve met and spoken to so many beautiful girls in my life – but nobody ever even touched the glamour of Alisha’s toe nail.

When I first saw Pinky’s photo that Chaps emailed, she came close to compete. When I actually met her I did find her attractive – however – she was one of my group and now she’s a very close friend… in fact – I can say that she’s my best friend and so I do have a heart and courage to discuss anything and everything I feel or she feels. I don’t know yet – I need to sum up more courage to discuss this matter with her and hope – I don’t lose my best friend – Pinky’

“Oh! Shoot the friendship” cursed Priti to herself, “why am I supposed to be his best friend to discuss his love? Who can it be? Natasha? – naaahhh! She’s too ordinary good looking person – she doesn’t know anything about glamour. Payal is engaged to Chaps and I don’t recollect anyone in our college on in the vicinity where Chaits lives to be so glamorous…”

She read on…

‘It was a special evening in my life…. That was also my birthday and I wish to thank GOD for letting me know the difference between Love and Infatuation. That day is a day I’d never forget – it’s been etched as my heart.

I was sitting in Go-Bananas with my friends that evening when for the first time I realized and had glimpse of her…”

“You and your dramatics” Priti was furious, “why did you have to be late that day… he must have bumped into her before I walked into Go Bananas… she may have been sitting or dancing right in front of your nose but you, Priti, you were too pre-occupied in the praises you were receiving that evening. It pays to be less attentive toward self – especially when you want to impress somebody and you don’t notice that he’s impressed by someone else…”

Now there was an inferno of envy in Priti’s heart as she continued reading…

‘For many days – I groped for words to describe her but I couldn’t find words that were good enough for her description.

Finally – I said to myself – let me at least try to describe her and here it follows…’

Priti took a deep breath before reading further…

MOODS

Today’s Special: My First Romance

Date: It’s my birthday.

Time: A special evening at Go Bananas…

Dear, You are sooooo… Special:

Whenever I see you, my breath stops letting my heart-beats sound like pounding of African drums….

For an unknown reason I start counting the speed of those beats and I visibly start feeling the tremors caused by those fast racing beats…

As more I look at you… my sight gets arrested by your well managed curved eye-brows which make me feel that they are Majestic High Arched Gateways that lead the path into the mystic depths of your dreamy eyes.

Your blinking lashes keep guard to fend off all those unwanted wanderers who want to enter and explore those mystic depths.

I hope to enter through them to discover the mystic wonderland of your dreams that occupy your dreamy and inviting eyes…

Your lips look like ripe cherries making me feel greedy to taste them and keep me wondering whether the tint of your lips, make your fair cheeks glow pinkish…

Oh! My! What would happen to me when you blush when I kiss you in appreciation of your beauty?

Do you know… that you kill people for a thousand miles whenever you flash your sweet smile?

I hope to get murdered every moment by that million-dollar smile.

Ah! There… I see it again as your lips curl … getting ready for the kill….

You look absolutely stunning when you wear that dark top studded with sparkling mirror like diamonds on your frilly flowing skirt – it makes you look like the Queen of Night who has a glory of shiny, twinkling stars – over which shines and sparkles the Halo of full moon (That’s your sweet attractive face)…

And if you let your shiny, well-groomed, long hair fall loosely over your queenly shoulders – You are an absolute terminator!

The shiny hair with the tint of burgundy falling over your queenly shoulders – resembles to the gurgling waterfalls of an exotic location and I get tempted to river-raft down it down your queenly shoulders – deep down till I touch the bottom of the romantic ocean contained in your heart…

GOD, when HE created you must have employed a genius artist to carve out your explicit, near to perfect figure.

HE must have taken extra effort to put ‘That Tinkling sound’ in your generous laughter…

And today, I believe, even HE must be wondering, unable to believe His own creation… YOU

GOD! I wish to experience YOUR master-piece every moment of my life…

PLEASE GRANT ME THIS ONE WISH…”

Priti folded those sheets and placed them back. Her eyes were moist with tears. She had a feeling that she had lost Chaits – forever – she had lost him to some glamorous chick that whisked him away from under her very nose. She had fallen in love with Chaits but now felt the pang of loss…

She folded those sheets and kept them the way they were. She came out of Chaits’ bedroom, un-bolted the main door, switched the TV on and sat on the soft chair – watching the TV blankly…
