Soon Chaits returned to L7 loaded with parcels which Priti had ordered for… He looked at Priti watching TV blankly and not even noticing him enter the hall. She seemed glum.

He quietly tiptoed across to her and placed his hand gently on her shoulder. Priti came back to senses with a jerk. “Hey! When did you get back? You really caught me by surprise…”

Chaits swore he saw her moist eyes which she was quick enough to hide. She quickly disappeared in her bedroom for a brief moment and was back looking fresh. A deliberate smile was what Chaits could see forced on her beautiful face.

‘Let me sing a nice song to get her in good mood’ thought Chaits.

“Pinky… have you heard this song?” said Chaits enthusiastically and sang an old English song ‘I Love You’ and Priti forgot all her musings when she heard Chaits sing in his golden voice.

“Wow! Chaits! You do have a golden voice that can make anyone sway to your rhythm… by the way how old is this one? Never heard it before” said Priti was back in good mood

“It’s a 1940s hit… I don’t know the group who composed this song” Chaits honestly informed her, “Pinky… I’m sorry…”

“Hey! Sorry for what?”

“You got me to such a wonderful New Year party… and simply because I cannot dance… you’ve to sit here… leaving the party alone”

“C’mon, Chaits! If I wanted to dance I’d have danced with so many people… I know most of them. They all are members of Jungle Homes and business friends of Daddy”

Chaits felt relieved that she was not glum because he was not able to dance. But then why was she glum? Well, she seemed to be in good mood now.

“Chaits?” asked Priti, “would you like to drink something?”

Chaits looked at the cold drinks he had fetched from the Food corner and wished he could have got beer instead. “Sure. Which bottle of these would you like me to open for us?”

Priti looked at him mischievously, got up and stood before a huge mirror that was placed in centre of the wall with the doors to bedrooms on either side. She gave herself a long look of appreciation and pushed the mirror on one side.

The mirror was a door to a hidden compartment and Chaits’ jaw dropped as he looked at contents inside. The compartment behind the mirror was a full-fledged bar which housed many expensive wines and alcohols in a proud display.

Priti looked at the display and selected one of the finest scotch brands.

“Pinky… I’ve never tried such hard alcohol before… I’m not sure what the reaction would be if I consume that…” Chaits cautioned her.

“I’ve tasted this once from Daddy’s glass about 5 years ago – even I’m not accustomed to this…” Priti explained.

“However, I have been a host to many of Daddy’s parties and have bar-tended for guests…so don’t worry… I’ll make a mild dose… my dad says that this is the best brand when you want to celebrate an explicit moment in your life”

Chaits was still unsure but he yielded, “I believe you Pinky” and then Priti prepared the drinks mixing the coke deftly with her experience of bar-tending and held up those in presentation.

“To my Chaits…” she raised the toast, “who’s soon going to leave us to seek and avail his opportunities to be a successful man” they clinked the glasses and Chaits could feel some heat rushing down his throat toward his stomach.

He gasped for breath for a moment,” Hmmn… Not bad… in fact, it’s a fantastic taste!”

“This is going to be our party…. Chaits! Could you please sing a nice romantic song for me?” Priti asked playfully.

“Just give me a moment” said Chaits. He got up, looked around, picked up a piece of wood that lay near the fire place. He sat in front of Priti holding the wood like a guitar…

“Which language do you prefer ma’am?” he asked cheerfully. He was in his domain now…

“First a song in English and the next one in Hindi” demanded Priti

“Ok! Here we go…” and he started strumming his imaginary guitar and started singing “Nothing’s Gonna Change my Love for You” one of the everlasting love songs…

All through the song, Priti also heard her heartbeats racing fast and wanted to count the butterflies in her heart… They had finished their mild dose by the time.

So Priti got up and got a refill in each glass.

“Now I want a Hindi” she said.

Chaits sipped from his glass and took a deep breath. He started with a Kishore Kumar “Kehna Hai” from Padosan.

Priti was confused… these songs would be ideal for Chaits’ girlfriend… why was he singing them to her? Was he practising?

Chaits finished the song looking at wide eyed Priti who was lost in his golden voice. There was a mysterious silence in the room as both sipped on their refills.

Priti broke the silence “Chaits! I’m sorry… I need to confess….” Chaits looked at her – a bit confused… ‘Now what?’

“Chaits! I’m really sorry” said Priti her eyes moist again, “I know it’s wrong but I could not stop myself?”

“What happened, Pinky?”

“While you were out fetching the parcels for us – I entered your room…”

“Ow! That’s alright “said Chaits “I’ve no problem in you doing so……”

“It’s not just entering the room Chaits” mumbled Priti

“Then what?”

“I saw some folded sheets of paper on your bed… they were your personal papers” Priti looked at Chaits… He first looked aghast and then turned red, “I’m sorry. I should not have done that…”

Chaits was still not able to digest the confession and he looked at a teardrop appearing in Priti’s eye.

“Thanks… Pinky…” he said, not finding proper words to express his feelings, “Anyways – sooner or later- I wanted to tell and discuss my feelings with you…”

“I’m sorry” Priti repeated softly.

There was an awkward silence.

“Pinky – Could you please make one more shot for me?”

“Chaits we are not accustomed to this drink are you sure you want one more?” Priti asked searchingly.

“Yes – I do need one more”

“Ok” said Priti and made one for Chaits – paused and made one more for self. Even she needed one more to digest what Chaits would now tell her… She wanted to know everything about the girl she lost Chaits to…

“You know Pinky” Chaits started abruptly amid his dink, “I think – I’m in love…”

Priti looked a bit disinterested in that sentence… she knew he was in love.

“Please promise me that you’ll still be my best friend if you disapprove…”

“Yes Chaits! I’ll always be your friend… only if your girlfriend approves our friendship” Priti said thoughtfully.

“I wanted to say all those words out when I spoke – however you’re already read those sheets – would you like to see her photograph?” Priti’s heart sank… now she was in dilemma… she couldn’t express her love for him when he was speaking about his girlfriend.

“Yes! I definitely would like to see how she looks” Priti said slowly and Chaits could see the glum look expression returning to her face…

“Gimme a moment – I need to get my laptop” said Chaits excitedly and vanished in his bedroom.

Priti sat there brooding over the events and cursing herself for her carelessness. She was getting more and more curious – she had to have a look at that girl… She was confused – Chaits seemed to be in love with her when they were dancing sometime back – she swore she saw love in Chaits’ eyes when they danced. And now! He’s got a photograph of someone he’s in love with…

She sat there waiting for Chaits to get his laptop… True enough, to his word, Chaits came back with his laptop. He put it on the centre table and clicked away till he found something – he smiled proudly and beckoned Priti to take a look…

Priti’s heart sank at every step she took to reach where Chaits sat in front of his laptop.

Chaits got up from the chair and offered it to her. She was standing close to Chaits who smelt of masculine scent mixed in flavour of the best scotch she had opened for him. She felt a feeling of lust for him creeping over her – that was a feeling she had never felt for anyone…

She sank in the chair trying to control her emotions. She could not get herself braced to take a look at her competitor.

She closed her eyes, paused for a moment, concentrated hard to control her feelings and emotions. She knew Chaits expected her to appreciate his newly found love…

She opened her eyes slowly and looked at Chaits… he seemed eager for her to look at the screen and she hated it…

Left with no choice she looked at the screen – at first she could see nothing as tears reappeared – she cleared them…

She looked at the screen of the laptop and confused looked at Chaits “Where?’ she mumbled.

“There” said Chaits and she looked again, confused, the screen was blank… The laptop was switched off… ‘Has the battery drained out?’ thought Priti hopefully.

“I don’t see her” said Priti

Chaits looked bewildered and sat next to her, almost in her lap and she found it difficult to contain her heart and lusty feeling creeping over her again…

“There she is…” said Chaits. The laptop was still switched off.

“Stop it, Chaits!” Priti said sternly “I don’t want to be mad at you please don’t do this” begged Priti…

Chaits closed the lid of the laptop and said “now… do you see her?” He got up and stood behind her…

Priti couldn’t believe what her eyes saw – she slowly got up and looked again – and she took a step backward. She was now resting against Chaits’ firm and strong body as she looked again… She smiled to herself…

When Chaits closed the lid of his laptop – the vision cleared and Priti looked at her reflection in the mirror that hid the bar… Chaits was showing her own reflection in the mirror…

As she stood up and took a step backward – she rested on Chaits’ body. She looked at his reflection in the mirror – his eyes showed genuine love for her…

She felt millions of butterflies flying hither and thither in her heart. Slowly – she turned and faced Chaits who was looking at her with love filled in his eyes. She could hear his heart beating fast – waiting for her reaction. She looked at him and her hands unknown to her engulfed Chaits. She came closer to his face to see his lips curl to a smile… she closed her eyes gently touching his lips with her own.

She was blissfully happy that Chaits had not only realised her feelings of love for him but also had accepted her feelings and was in love with her.

They stood there kissing each other for a long time…

There was a loud sound of a bang and clock chimed as it struck 12… It was the beginning of a new calendar year and a new beginning to their life…

They released the embrace and stood apart for a moment, gasping as they tried to control their emotions and arrest the speed of racing heart-beats.

“I’m hungry” said Priti as they hit the sofa and Chaits realized that he too was famished.

They opened the parcels and ate heartily and then cleaned the room together…

“Hey! Pinky! Let’s freshen up and go out the party has stopped. It’s so serene, calm and wonderful – let’s go out for a moonlight walk” he urged and Priti liked the idea.

They freshened up and were soon walking on the narrow pathways of Jungle Homes – hand in hand – cuddled up in one shawl. It was romantic… They walked all around the Jungle Homes campus and realized that it was getting colder… So they walked back to L7…

It was the new found love – they weren’t sleepy. The warmth of fireplace made the room cosy.

“Wow! This really is cosy. I think I can do with one more dose of that beautiful drink you make… Pinky! Could you please make one more for me?”

Priti got up – even she needed one. As she got up she saw a tiny bruise on Chaits arm. “Hey… Chaits, how did you get hurt?”

“Oh! Just a scratch – one of the twigs must have brushed against me when we walked the campus.”

“Why don’t you apply some medicine?”

“I didn’t bring any – unless you got it with you…”

“I’ll make a drink by the time if you can open the hidden compartment beside the fire place – the one that has a picture of running stallion; you’ll find a first-aid box in there.”

‘Wow’ thought Chaits ‘housekeeping here is too good – they’ve thought of everything’ he groped around the frame and managed to find the first-aid box behind. He sat lazily on the thick, soft carpet beside the fireplace and opened the first aid box. He was amazed to find array of common pills and lotions along with medical cotton…

He opened the anti-sceptic lotion bottle and picked the cotton.

He saw a pack of condoms below the cotton. ‘God! These people seem to have thought of everything before they made this place!’

He looked around to see Priti almost ready with drinks in her hands. He quickly tore the cotton he required and placed the bundle back to hide what he had seen. He felt awkward thinking what would be the scene – had Priti opened the first aid box for him. He quickly shut the box and kept it aside as he started applying the medicine and cleaning the scratch

“Let me take a look” said Priti as she placed the drinks next to him, “Hmmm… nothing much – just a simple scratch. It’ll be alright by tomorrow.”

She moved toward the main door. She bolted it and switched the lights off. “Now that’s what I call a perfect romantic setup” she said as she walked back to the fireplace.

Chaits looked around to experience the magic. The sight he saw was pure magic. It was dark all around. Few spot’s shone as moon light seeped through the windows, the rest shown amid the flickering light of the fire place.

Priti sat next to him capturing every emotion and expression on Chaits’ face. “Cheers!” she said and clink of the glasses echoed…

Chaits could not look beyond Priti. Her beauty had assumed new dimensions due to love and it shone amazingly on her face. The flickering of fireplace created romantic aura around her. Her cheeks looked reddish pink now. Her hair falling over her queenly shoulders made him want to feel that soft touch again. His looks were also arrested by the rise and fall of her breasts as she breathed. He controlled his mind and started sipping his drink… happy and content. He had a lovely girl like Priti who was in love with him and he knew, his instincts told him, she would make a perfect wife.

He looked at her again as he finished his drink. She was intently looking at him. He could see the twinkle in her eyes as she looked adoringly at him.

She slowly cuddled up beside him to feel the warmth and his masculine body… She looked at him… her eyes full of love – beckoning him to take her in his arms. Chaits slowly put his arms around her as she closed her eyes to respond to his soft kisses. She put her arms around him and started groping around trying to feel his masculine body.

He put his arms around her to feel the soft hair on her back and felt good as she snuggled further into his arms… He again started to sweat as he felt her soft body pressed against his. He found his heartbeats racing at top speed as he felt the touch of her soft hands on his stomach.

He started kissing her cheeks, then her forehead, then her nose, then her eyelashes, then again her lips. He could not stop himself. He kissed her chin and then moved toward her throat and nape of her neck.

Priti was lost in his touch and kisses and wanted more of it. She slowly grasped his hand which was now resting on her stomach and inched it slowly higher up…

As Priti’s hand nudged his hand higher – he suddenly found him holding her soft and warm breasts in his palms. He had never had experienced the magic of this touch and he groped around to feel more of it. Then they both found themselves engulfed in lust that had been curbed for all these years.

Soon the lay beside each other… The sudden surge of lust pacified. Chaits silently thanked the housekeeping guys for maintaining a good first aid kit.

He put his arms around her and kissed her again as she smiled and cuddled in his arms before passing off in a deep sleep…

The first thing they did as they reached home was to inform the group about their new found love and as the college started everyone knew that they were in love…
