“We want a party, Chaits” demanded Jeetesh who worked in his unit and a very good friend of Chaits at Delhi, “Tomorrow is Friday and what else could be better than Friday evening to rock a party?”
“Ok! You’ll get a party – however the place has to be good and decent people visiting there…”
“I know a good joint that has recently started. It is on the outskirts of Delhi off the road to Meerut… Believe me it’s decent and scantily crowded… I know the DJ there and he can arrange a table for us” said Jeetesh with enthusiasm.
“But, how do we reach there? We all use company transport which is almost compulsory.” asked Chaits.
“No problem. We take the company transport to reach home – freshen up – and I get my car. Then I pick you up and then we pick Rohit and Sukhwinder enroute”
“Do you know what time we would reach with all this exercise – we’ll hardly get time to enjoy there…”
“No problem, Chaits” Jeetesh informed, “That’s open all night for people like us – the crowd actually starts pouring in after midnight & stays there till early morning. It’s got a fantastic bar, a hukka joint, a bowling hall and a dance floor – fun all night…”
“Seems to be a good idea” said Chaits, “Let’s party then – and I’ll pay the bill…”
As planned they started in the evening and the music blared as they hit the road to Meerut. Jeetesh was a good driver. He loved to speed. Soon the car touched 80 kmph as Sukhwinder & Rohit grabbed the seats in front of them.
“Chaits – I hope you don’t fear speed like these two” Jeetesh taunted them.
“No – not at all” said Chaits, “would you mind if I drive your car – It’s a beauty…”
“Sure! Why not?” said Jeetesh as he pulled the car toward the edge of the road and chuckled at the thought of Chaits being nervous of his speed. Chaits smiled as he started the car. It a well maintained car and could really respond to the accelerator.
“Brace yourself…” said Chaits as he pushed hard at the accelerator pedal…
“Chaits, we are almost there” Jeetesh almost screamed in horror, “slow down or we’ll miss the place”.
True enough, the place was about 500 meters away. Even as Chaits slowed down Jeetesh pointed toward a road leading left… Soon they parked in front of what looked like a normal road dhaba.
“This looks like a regular dhaba, where’s all the jazz and music and lights?” asked Chaits looking at the place around – however nobody answered and he looked at them….. Fear was clearly writ on their faces. They were in a state of shock looking at Chaits.
“Do you always drive like this?” finally the silence was broken by Sukhwinder.
“It’s good that we get company transport – a huge 35 seater bus – I won’t want to dream about such drives everyday…” Rohit echoed the mood.
“Oh! I forgot to tell you – speed driving, dirt track races they are my hobbies, I’ve won lot of medals, certificates for these activities” beamed Chaits, “however, I do not drive at crazy speed like this always – I thought you all liked to speed and this is a fantastic car…”
“Alright… Chaits! You win again,” said an exasperated Jeetesh, “follow me and I’ll show you the place…”
They all followed him to the back of dhaba where one could see another structure guarded by a hefty bouncer. Jeetesh gave him the booking number and he looked through his pc installed there and he printed out passes and smugly handed them over.
“Don’t these people know how to smile?” wondered Rohit, “Chaits has a better build than that whacko but Chaits is always smiling…”
“I’m sure, Chaits can thrash ten such bouncers together” said Jeetesh
“To tell you the truth – I haven’t tried bashing any bouncer off” said Chaits and they entered… they saw a very well designed pub and a small dance floor and across the dance floor were khatiyas where one could sit like a Maharaja enjoying the music, drinks and cuisine. Chaits looked around and decided he’ll get Pinky here on date when she visits Delhi in about six months. The ambience was good and soon they had drinks being served to them as they lay on khatiyas like Maharajas, watching the people on the dance floor.
“I wish, I had a girlfriend” mused Sukhwinder, “It’d be lovely to dance with her on the floor here…”
Chaits had a cold sweat break on his forehead as he realized – he still can’t dance… and if he gets Priti here – she’d want to dance with him. Unknowingly he started studying the dance moves of people dancing on the floor.
“Hey! Chaits! Where are you lost?” Jeetesh’s question brought him back to the scene in dhaba and he laughed heartily at his thoughts… Over next few rounds of drinks, Chaits’ related his story to his friends who were awed.
“Don’t worry friend…” assured Jeetesh, “I’ll teach you how to dance, before Priti bhabie comes to town…”
Chaits was happy. Finally somebody had offered to teach him how to dance. He was unaware of what lay ahead – what the future held for him…
