Chaitanya looked at Chaits who had his breath held with the romantic story and continued… “Unfortunately my calculation was incorrect and we landed here at Chandra Taal in your universe instead of returning to my lab… I came to know two things with the warm hole and inter-universe travel… one is the warm hole remained open for 5 minutes which allowed Prince and some of his men to follow us here into this universe and that whenever one goes through the warm hole into another universe, it normally takes you near to where your soul’s counterpart is at that moment… you were at Chandra Taal – so we landed there… similarly when I had landed in the other universe, Prince was somewhere around and moving away just like you were… I couldn’t see the Prince ride away – but I saw you riding a motorcycle away and knew you could be staying somewhere near… we had to run for Prince and his soldiers were breathing on our back… in that running away, unfortunately, I dropped the equipment that opens the portal somewhere near Chandra Taal” Chaitanya looked at Chaits with horror, “Now unless I get that equipment back and hoping that it is in order – I can’t go back nor can I send the Prince back to our respective universes… we are stuck here… and to go out and search – we risk meeting the angry Prince and his soldiers.”
The truth dawned upon everybody sitting in that room… they were in a fix and the way out seemed dangerous as well as next to impossible. They had to do something very fast and not only reach the equipment but also see to it that they were back in their respective universes…
“We will have to risk and search for the equipment – I am on a holiday and cannot stay here for ever – or you will have to travel with me to Mumbai where I stay till you find out solution for this problem of our life… and the Prince and his soldiers will most probably go to a jail or a mental hospital for nobody will believe them and they are in their ancient attire… it will be difficult for them…”
“So what do you propose?”
“We go out on my bike and search for that equipment and get hold of that equipment… that’s the only way – I only have 2-3 days of my stay left here…”
“If you are going out… I am coming with you. I might be able to deter Prince from killing you.” Vishakha quipped in between.
“You can’t come out with us wearing that attire… you will be recognized immediately.” Chaits pointed out.
“Then get me a suitable dress which I can wear when going out in this universe.” She insisted.
“Hmm… we will have to ask the resort where we can get a dress for you… further it has to suit you and you should be able to wear that dress…” Chaits said looking at Chaitanya, “I guess you know her size.”
“I can’t exactly define her size… we have not been so intimate. We will have to simply guess.” Chaitanya said.
“Well, let me see if we can get a measuring tape here at the resort… we can measure her dimensions then and see what we can do…” Chaits said.
“It’s measurement where dresses are concerned – not dimensions” Chaitanya objected, “Dimensions are for non-living things.”
“Okay – whatever… let me first check if we can get hold of measuring tape.” Chaits called up the reception on intercom and checked with them… he smiled and turned toward both of them, “They have a tape fortunately and will deliver it in few minutes…” he kept the receiver of the intercom down even as the bell to the cottage rang, “Yes? Who is it?” he called from where he was standing.
It was the housekeeping with the measuring tape. Chaitanya and Vishakha hid inside while Chaits took the tape from the housekeeping and closed the door behind him. He called them out from the bedroom… and handed over the tape to Chaitanya who looked at it blankly, “What’s the matter with you? You need to have measurements to get her proper clothes of modern times. Take the measurement…”
“I told you the time in my universe is a bit ahead of your time… we don’t take measurements for clothes we want… there is a clothing machine… we simply stand in front of it and it rotates around you, scans you for measurement and then you select the cloth, the style and the colour combination you want… the readymade cloth pops out from that machine…”
Chaits looked at him with wonder and moved to Vishakha “Stand straight and look parallel to the ground…” he said and started to take measurement as he had seen tailors take measurement and noted the measurement on a tissue paper. When done he folded that tissue and put it in his pocket and asked them to stay put and not make any noise… he ventured out to the reception and asked for nearest cloth market and took a pair of helmets from the stand and walked back to the cottage.
“Chaitanya – come along with me, we will go to the cloth market and get her an appropriate dress… you need to wear this helmet. It will stop the Prince or his soldiers from recognizing us if we bump into them. They wore the helmets and told Vishakha to stay put in the cottage and showed her a code knock which they would be using when they returned… asking her not to open the door to anyone who doesn’t sound the code knock.
They proceeded to the bazar where they found a cloth store… they had a wait of about half an hour as the shopkeeper altered the readymade dresses to the size given by Chaits… then they returned to the cottage and sounded the code knock… Vishakha opened the door and they entered inside and locked the door.
She obviously didn’t know how to wear them… Chaits showed her and she disappeared into the bedroom to try the Punjabi suit they had brought for her… wearing it, she appeared back in the main hall… Chaits stood there with his mouth agape – she was indeed beautiful and no matter what kind of dress she wore, she looked magnificent…
“Okay … this will sort out the issue for her getting out of here and nobody noticing anything weird about her… we rest for today because in an hour or two- it will be dark and it will be difficult to find the place where you dropped that equipment. Tomorrow, after breakfast – we go out and search that bloody equipment and then try and manage to locate Prince and send him back to his universe and you back to yours…” he said looking at Chaitanya.
They all looked tense – many questions – will they be able to find the equipment? Will they be able to find the equipment before Prince finds their location? How will they manage to convince Prince to enter the warm hole to return to his universe? Will Vishakha go to her universe or will there be a problem created by Prince who will insist that Vishakha return with him to the universe they belong?
They all slept an uneasy sleep – waiting for the night to get over and hoping that the next day will sort all the problems out of their lives…
