Jeetesh was in no condition to drive and requested Chaits to drive – slow!! Chaits obliged as he needed everyone to be back in one piece.
Then they had another round of discussion… Who would be dropped first? Then another round out of concern – after dropping Chaits how’d one trust Jeetesh to drive home safely. Finally they decided that Chaits would drop Sukhwinder & Rohit and Jeetesh would stay at Chaits’ place.
As soon as they touched the main road Chaits automatically put the music ‘ON’ and started singing along. His friends were amazed at his golden voice as he sang one song after the other.
They were half the way when a car sped by at hazardous speed. Chaits had a feeling – Alisha was in that car. Worried, he started pressing down the accelerator but was pleaded by his friends not to do so. He slowed down keeping a watch on the road… Soon they dropped off Sukhwinder and Rohit and Chaits started steering the car toward his flat.
A couple of blocks before his place, Chaits suddenly screeched to halt. Half asleep Jeetesh peered out of to see Alisha standing by her car kicking the flat tyre. Alisha gave a relived look as she saw Chaits get down from the car. “Gimme the jack and I’ll fix this for you” said Chaits.
She could not help admiring build Chaits had – especially with every twist he gave to the nuts of her tyre car’s tyre, his muscles flexed through this tight T-shirt ‘Hmmm- a strong man – also of a strong character’ thought Alisha.
Chaits finally managed to get the flat tyre out & fixed the additional spare one – he groped the flat tyre to check what made the tyre flat.
Something told him that everything was not right. As he groped his hand touched a small wooden bar that was studded with nails enough to flatten any tyre that would run over it.
He fished it out a base made of wood that was white in colour and would reflect any light falling on it with precision… nails embedded in it…
“Hey! Where did this come from?” wondered Alisha aloud, “I never saw that.”
Chaits instincts still were ringing alarm bells – something was not right. He looked around at desolate road and saw nothing around. He waived Alisha to get in her car. However, Alisha joined him in keeping the flat tyre and tools back in the car.
Suddenly Chaits heard a car screeching in speed. He saw a jeep emerge out of nowhere and speed directly at them. He quickly grabbed Alisha and in split of a second pulled her off the speeding jeep’s way. The jeep screeched to a halt but not without banging Alisha’s car & causing a hell lot of damage as her car toppled over…
Jeetesh tumbled out of his car out of concern. He looked at Chaits who was comforting a shaken Alisha. Then he screamed “Watch out” to Chaits as he saw a group of thugs running at Chaits armed with hockey sticks.
That alert was enough for Chaits as he swung around and started displaying his talent of boxing coupled with his martial arts training. In a short melee of fisticuffs, even as Jeetesh joined to help Chaits, the group of thugs soon lay whining on the footpath.
The melee that had followed they had strayed away from Alisha leaving her alone and unguarded. Realizing this Chaits looked back and to his horror saw a thug running toward Alisha with a raised metal rod. “Alisha – watch out” shouted Chaits as he started running toward her…
Alisha was looking toward the thug – she was seemed to be stuck to ground – she was not moving at all…
“You bitch!” the thug shouted, “You dared to carry out your sting operation against my boss – I’ll kill you” and he kept running menacingly toward Alisha who was speaking on her mobile watching thug run toward her.
Chaits was still scrambling toward her when he saw the thug with raised metallic bar reach Alisha. Chaits knew that it was not possible to reach out the distance he still needed to cover up. Chaits watched desperately as the thug raised the metal bar to deliver a lethal blow to Alisha…
“Run! Alisha – run” Chaits could only scream now as he could sense the lethal blow on Alisha – any moment. Alisha did not budge even an inch – she was staring at the thug.
Chaits closed his eyes as he could not bear to see his dream girl being lethally hit by a metal rod – but regained himself in a fraction of second and in a desperate bid to reach Alisha to save her scrambled toward her.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. In split of a second Alisha moved and delivered a powerful kick between the thug’s legs who grunted and Chaits heard only two sounds – the clang of metal rod as it hit the pavement and a blurred thud as the thug hit the ground. “That was a great show Alisha” beamed Chaits.
“I’m 3rd degree black belt” explained Alisha, “In the profession I follow – these kind of attacks do occur – I’ve to be ready for that but then – thanks a lot for saving my life Chaits” Alisha beamed and gave a warm hug to Chaits and Chaits felt the same feeling creep over him when Priti used to hug him…
Alisha had called on an emergency number and soon the police arrived to take care of the situation… Alisha’s car was damaged and was towed away by police. Chaits offered to drop her on the way – however, she refused with a smile. Chaits looked curiously at her wondering how she would manage to reach home…
She smiled and put her arm around Chaits and pointed to a building on the opposite side of the road and said “I stay in an apartment in that building and don’t need a car to reach there” and burst out laughing…
“I didn’t know – you stayed so close Alisha” he pointed toward the end of the road, “I stay in an apartment just a block away from here” and Chaits smiled.
“Please allow me to take your leave then” Jeetesh interrupted them “Chaits, the fight took all the beer out of me I’m ok now… I’ll drive and reach safely – don’t worry about me.”
Chaits looked at Jeetesh and found him to be quite sober now & nodded his approval. Jeetesh drove off…
Chaits & Alisha crossed the road… “Thanks a lot Chaits” Alisha said with gratitude, “You stood by me. By the way you fight well – where did you learn to fight like that?”
“I was a boxing champion in college I bowed out of National championship because of dirty politics. I’ve also been following martial arts – just to keep fit.” explained Chaits.
‘I would love to know more about him’ thought Alisha and then added loudly, “Hey! Chaits, please join me for a cup of coffee – it’s almost 5 am I’d like to know if this tough Alisha Fire can concoct a good coffee” and laughed mischievously.
“Ok” said Chaits as he had nothing else to do as well, he was concerned that Alisha should reach home safely – who knows – someone could be lurking around her apartment…
She had a cosy apartment that was simple yet comfortable and decorated with exclusive items.
“Chaits! If you need to freshen-up, the wash basin and bath is there” said Alisha pointing. “I’ll prepare coffee till you freshen up… Gimme a minute” said Alisha and disappeared in her bedroom while Chaits kept on wondering and appreciating exclusive decorative items around. He looked around and finally sat very comfortable on the Indian sofa – comfortably resting against pillow. Soon Alisha appeared in exquisite, comfortable Punjabi suit. She looked more homely and beautiful. Chaits watched her concoct coffee with small talks. He felt a thin line of perspiration on his forehead… Alisha had her back toward Chaits as she deftly moved in her kitchen. Chaits was finding it very hard – not to get attracted to her. In that cosy dress she looked voluptuous and inviting. Chaits desperately was fending off his desire to put an arm around her slim waist…
“Here! I hope the coffee’s good enough” said Alisha holding the cup which Chaits thankfully accepted.
“Hmmm – nice!” Chaits appreciated… Alisha could definitely brew a good coffee. She sat on opposite end of the low Indian sofa facing Chaits with folded legs. She looked irresistible now.
“Hey! Chaits – what happened to you? Are you alright? Why are you sweating like this?”
Chaits had no answer to these questions put by Alisha and was glad that she had offered only coffee and nothing else. He thanked her for coffee and quickly got out of her apartment. The first thing he did was to stand under a shower to cool off. He slept an uncomfortable sleep with his dreams confusing him more about his feelings toward Pinky and Alisha…
He abruptly woke and started to meditate, he was trying to regain control over his confused mind. He was trying hard to gather strength to ward off his renewed attraction to Alisha which he knew was not fair to Pinky who loved him from her the bottom of her heat… He was trying to convince himself that he should be feeling all these feelings for Pinky and not Alisha. After all he was planning to marry Pinky soon…
‘Oh! God! Please help me regain control over my feelings’ he kept on pleading…
