In about 3 hours Inspector Sharma was at Jungle Homes. They discussed the plan further… He was going to comb the jungle from a point which was located about 200 kilometres south of Jungle Homes – about a quarter of the troops were going to be located around the vicinity of Jungle Homes.

Chaits started explaining his plan of getting in touch with the tribal who dwelled in the jungles along with Alisha & her news channel friends as group…

Inspector Sharma seemed displeased at Chaits’ plan… he disliked the press people… as far as he was concerned press people for their own benefit used to let the cats out of the bag even before he could take action. He was concerned that the news of he & his force combing the jungle would already be out on TV – thus giving Vicky & his men a lead over him… he wanted to keep this as hush-hush as possible…

Chaits had a tough time convincing him that Alisha will not leak any details out unless Inspector Sharma approves of a leak for benefit of operation… after all… she was his best friend & was there in Sundernagar & now shifting to Jungle Homes to help him…

Finally Inspector Sharma agreed & they finalised their plan… he left leaving Chaits to ponder over his plan of action… one thing that was of concern to Chaits was communication… there no mobile network that reached any corner of the jungle… he had realised this when he was attacked earlier in the evening… In case of emergency – even the emergency calls from his mobile weren’t able to reach any police network…

After all the action during the day… he slept like a log & woke up to sweet chimes & chirpings of birds around… he felt fresh & ready for action. He had a hearty breakfast & waited for Alisha to turn up with her troupe… by noon he started getting restless as Alisha had not yet turned up….

He called her on her mobile – she was still at Sundernagar… She had some urgent work & said she’d be at Jungle Homes for dinner with her colleagues…

Chaits decided to explore the jungle around Jungle Homes… he geared himself by loading his gun & filling his pockets with bullets… he then borrowed a hammer & pack of nails from the housekeeping… got few newspapers & laboriously cut them into tiny square pieces… he was now ready.

He hung a powerful torch around his waist & started his trek through the jungle… every 20-30 steps he took… he folded small paper like pointers & nailed them to a tree to get easy direction…

He was following a path created in the jungle seemingly by feet of the local Tribals – he was folding the sheets of the paper for nailing it to trees when he thought – he heard a sound of a twig broken by someone’s approach… he quietly listened to the sounds around & was sure of stealthy steps around… He pulled out his gun & started stealthily moving toward the sound of those steps…

Then he saw a gun peeping from a tree at a distance & slowly started circling to get behind the person who held it…

He moved from the tree that he was using as a cover & suddenly found himself facing a man who pointed his gun at him…

“Oh! It’s you again” he said in a raspy voice & Chaits recognised him… “find anything?”

“No – what about you?” asked Chaits… at that Capt. Mickey laughed recklessly & said, “Nothing much just that there was someone near or at Jungle Homes – so I came here to investigate…”

“Ohh!” exclaimed Chaits, “that would be me… I’m put up at Jungle Homes… if you have to contact me you’re welcome to meet me or call me on their phone… my mobile doesn’t work around here but you can try my mobile if you don’t find me at Jungle Homes… I may be visiting Sundernagar or could be on a highway where I get a range for my mobile…”

“I will…” said the Captain, “but you can always call me – wherever I may be… on this number…” Chaits saw an odd phone number he punched the number on his mobile & looked at the Captain… “It looks strange because it’s a satellite phone & works everywhere – open to sky…”

“Oh! That’s nice” said Chaits wishing he also had a satellite phone with him – at least he be able to make calls during emergency… they exchanged their numbers.

“If we have to work together & we’ll keep bumping into each other – why don’t you join me at Jungle Homes – I can arrange a room for you” Chaits offered Captain Mickey.

“In normal circumstance I’d have accepted your invitation – but it’s risky – I’ve put up a tent in the jungle where police or military police won’t find me before mission to kill Vicky is complete after that – I’ll surrender myself to the military…”

“Okay” said Chaits, “but keep in touch…”

“I will” said the Captain & walked back the jungle as Chaits saw him vanish in few meters

Chaits backtracked & found the tree he last nailed & carried on with his laborious work…

It was about sundown & Chaits realised that he was about 4-5 kilometres away from Jungle Homes… he decided to walk back & reach before Alisha turns up – it was also growing dark now & he wanted to reach back & not take a risk of getting lost in jungles. It was easier now for him to find his way back – the pointers he’d nailed so laboriously were helping him find his way back.

He would’ve walked back about a kilometre or two as it grew real dark in the jungle. He pulled up his torch & was about to light it up when he saw a flicker caused by a match being struck & heard voices – it seemed like a conversation between 2 men & the language they spoke seemed to be urban… Chaits again started circling stealthily to get a glimpse of those men…..

They could be from the force that Inspector Sharma had deployed around Jungle Homes or they could be Vicky’s men he wanted to be sure before he bumped into them…

He was slow & careful not to make a sound as he approached them… as he moved closer the voices were much clearer…

“I wish this would get over soon I long to see Sundernagar & the new girls in the college… I’ll be sure to get someone for me…” he seemed bit slurry from the drinking….

“Ya – don’t worry mate… this will definitely get over in a month or two – nobody in this world has enough time to spend on history.”

They seemed to be sitting & drinking as Chaits heard a clink of bottle… one of the voices sounded familiar to him. He slowly started tiptoeing toward the voices to get a clearer view…

“This would’ve never happened if the chick wouldn’t have kicked Lucky’s balls – she should’ve submitted gracefully to his sexual demands & kept quiet & we all would’ve been making merry at Sundernagar hounding another chick…”

Chait’s blood boiled as he heard the sentence & knew it must be someone from Vicky’s gang…

“So did Lucky really commit suicide?”

“Shhh! We’ll discuss about this later… we need to be back… I wonder who would have fired bullets at our men yesterday… I’ve seen nobody snooping around here… tomorrow… we scan the famous Jungle Homes…” and they laughed.

“But I’m still wondering… was that chick so glamorous for such a dangerous plan?”

“Ah! You should’ve seen her… It’s a pity she was burnt alive…”

The men stopped in their tracks. They were suddenly facing a well-built young man… Chaits!!! Chaits looked at them… he didn’t know one of them but instantly recognised Chunnu who looked terrified…

Chunnu looked in terror at Chaits standing in front of him & realised that his partner was raising his gun – he wished that Chaits would be shot dead -right now. The movement was quick.

Chaits grabbed the gunman & hit a solid blow on his nose & put his foot between Chunnu’s legs who fell flat on his face – dazed. Even as Chunnu regained his senses he could see his companion go limp in unconsciousness – not able to withstand Chaits fury & the flurry of his powerful blows.

Chaits kicked the gun that fell from his companion’s hand & watched it disappear in the darkness of the jungle… In one quick movement Chunnu pushed Chaits & started to run away from him – he knew how Chaits would break his bones before he kills – if he’s caught… it won’t be an easy death…

Chunnu was running hard for his dear life & could hear heavy steps following him… he prayed that he’d get away from this situation… unknowingly he was running toward Jungle Homes…

After a long chase, Chaits gained the distance between them… soon Chunnu was within reach & Chaits reached out to grab him… Chunnu realised that Chaits had the collar of his shirt grabbed – he broke the buttons of his shirt & let go off the shirt still grabbed by Chaits… but, Chunnu was not a sports person & his stamina began to fail… he realised a strong push by Chaits from behind & wasn’t able to control his direction. He ran straight ahead & bumped onto a tree. He fell down – utterly exhausted…

They had run about a kilometre & that was nothing for Chaits who was used to running much more than that as a daily routine…. He looked at cowering Chunu whose eyes showed terror of meeting death in form of Chaits who stood towered over him…

“Chaits! I’m sorry…” Chunnu almost yelped in terror, “we had not planned it… it happened at the last moment & all because of Lucky…” Chunnu couldn’t speak further as his scream of pain echoed across the jungle. Chaits had planted a dirty kick in his ribs. Chaits held Chunnu by his throat & lifted him to make him stand… Chunnu gave up all hopes of life as Chaits started beating him – nay – pounding him with fists full of fury & kicks that broke many bones… initially Chunnu screamed at every snap of a bone which dwindled to faint grunts & finally he couldn’t even get his voice out to signify the pain – vent out the pain & suffering…

Chaits finally realised that if he carried on – he’d end up killing Chunnu… he stopped & looked at Chunnu who was half dead with pain…

He lifted Chunnu & asked, “Now do you understand how my friends must have felt when you all attacked them with knives & iron rods?”

‘That would’ve been better’ thought Chunnu, than getting bones broken one by one – in this fashion – once the knife goes in – there’s no pain and he fainted – there’s no life – no suffering…

Chaits grabbed him & lifted him on his shoulder & started walking toward the Jungle Homes. He was planning to interrogate Chunnu further before handing him over to the cops for Inspector Sharma to take over…

He soon reached the gate of Jungle Homes – he was tired from carrying the weight of Chunnu. He threw Chunnu on ground in disgust even as the gate opened. The guards helped him pick Chunnu up & put him on a stretcher & they kept Chunnu near the ambulance that stood waiting in the housekeeping garage…

The in house medical intern took one glance at Chunnu & knew that he was serious and needed medical attention…

Chunnu came back to sense, desperately hoping that he’d seen a worst nightmare… the pain of his broken bones started drubbing…

He opened his eyes & saw faces he couldn’t recognise… he could identify the vehicle as ambulance… he rolled his eyes to a side shivered with thought… he saw Chaits standing – his eyes were menacing… “Don’t hurt me more Chaits” he yelped in pain, “kill me if you want to…”

“Where’s Vicky?” Chaits asked

“In the jungle” Chunnu could hardly utter a word

“Please…” the medical intern interrupted “be reasonable… he needs medical help urgently he can answer your questions later…”

Chaits looked at the intern & thought for a moment – then crossed over to the telephone & called Inspector Sharma “Take him to Shushrusha Hospital at Sundernagar he instructed the driver…”

They put Chunnu in the ambulance & the intern started his first aid even as they started moving toward Sundernagar…

Chaits went back to L7 & freshened up & waited for Alisha & her troupe to arrive… It was almost 9pm when Alisha arrived…

“Hey! What took you so long?”

“We’d have been here almost 2 hours back, but as we entered the jungle we saw an ambulance parked with the driver & two people behind shot dead – we had to wait till police came & took control…” So – Chunnu was shot dead with the innocent people in the ambulance…
