Mohini braced for the debriefing. She had been able to read the mind of those terrorists even when she was being beaten and slapped. She gave the information of the locations she knew where the terrorists had planned the blasts.
Then, she was introduced to a team of artists who sketched the faces of the terrorists as Mohini related to them and she approved 3 of them that the terrorists indeed looked like the sketches. The sketches were immediately sent to every man in the force with a lookout message and with instructions that they had to be arrested under any pretext and brought to Khan’s office.
It was a while before the first news trickled in – by the time they had their brunch. Soon, one terrorist was brought in and Mohini recognised him. He was taken in for the interrogation in a cabin that had one way see through glass. Mohini sat outside the cabin trying to read the mind of that terrorist. She was able to and she made notes for NIA about the other terrorist who this person was thinking about, their whereabouts in the city and what each person would carry out.
The terrorist sitting in the interrogation was giving wayward answers thinking that he would send NIA on a wild goose chase not knowing that Mohini was reading what he was thinking and making notes and sharing the information with Inspector Khan.
By evening, most of the terrorists and their aides were rounded up and brought into NIA office. NIA by now had information of the locations where the bombs were and had sent out teams to diffuse them if they had been already placed at the locations.
NIA was thrilled the way the case had been solved with help of Mind Reading by Mohini. Along with the terrorists and their aides, information about sleeper cells of Pakistan also got revealed and even they were rounded up… Mumbai was safe again…
“I would like to host a party as thanks to Mohini for her help – let her recover from the injuries and we will have a grand party – all on my account…” Inspector Khan offered this smiling and in a genuine gratitude, “As far as you are concerned Chaits – you always are welcome for the party – one because she is your to be wife and we both are school friends…”
“Of course – I am always on a look out to see your purse spend some money on me…” Chaitanya laughed and Khan joined in, relief that Mumbai was safe…
Khan dropped them at Mohini’s residence. Samiya hurried to her flat wanting to know how Mohini was doing and was relieved that she was safe. They postponed the event for the next day and people understood that Mohini wouldn’t be able to perform since she could be in trauma of being kidnapped and gladly accepted the next date… This left Mohini and Chaitanya days in hand for their exclusive time and she felt happy about it.
“Thanks for being there when I needed you the most…” she said and kissed him long and sweet, even as she melted in the warmth of his arms.
Few days later, Inspector Khan introduced Mohini to his superior and was offered professional consultancy to read minds of deadly criminals whenever they were brought in for interrogation and was offered hefty fee for that and she accepted…
